It has been a busy weekend and I think it is time to have a quiet one. Saturday 28th we enjoyed the Knippers family reunion in the fellowship hall at Progress BC. There were about 50+ there. The oldest was Edna Knippers Martin 98 years of Baton Rouge and the youngest was Raelyn Knippers 13 months of Brookhaven although she is at Progress a lot with her grandparents Carl and Bernice.
Dorothy Brewer Miller of Coto De Caza, California traveled the longest distance. We had a great time and the younger ones enjoyed games of corn hole and jenga on the porch. As always there was so much food and we all probably ate too much like we had good sense. We thank Richie Fortenberry for arrangements and Rachel Brumfield for all she does and of course all the cooks.
Then on Sunday 29th Gene and I missed church at Progress to go to the 180th homecoming celebration at Mt. Zion BC. It was a beautiful service with 121 attending. It was good to see Margaret Givens able to be there although in a wheelchair. All the special music was beautiful and brought to us by Bro. Melvin and Mary Rushing. He played the piano and she sang. Singing also were Linda Graves, Gina Mitchell and Bro. Richie Fortenberry. The choir was led by Bro. Richie. All the songs were really heartfelt. Bro. Steve Clark had a very good message from Matthew 16 on “What’s right with our church”. And again, Oh my! The food, yes you know it, we all probably overdid it however it was just too good to pass up.
Progress BC celebrated the Lords Supper this Sunday morning. We hated to miss it.
